From what if to what is

By Andrea Kartika Deierlein

At this time of year, it’s only natural to think about fresh starts, new routines, ways to develop and grow.

But, for some, change can be tricky. It can be uncomfortable. It can feel threatening and cause anxiety and worry. Even when it is good change.

“Just for today, do not worry” is the second precept in the system of Reiki.

It’s an invitation to shift the focus and the energy from what if to what is. To be centered in the present moment. One breath at a time. But this is easier said than done. That’s why I love The Worry Trick – it’s a great, therapist recommended resource, an easy and fun read, full of practical advice and tips that apply to everyday life.

While meditation and mindfulness can be helpful tools in managing anxiety and worry, they may not be everybody’s cup of tea. And that’s OK!

There are many ways to tune into what is, right here, right now. To simply notice what is. The hard part is to do it without judgment.

Sometimes subtle shifts can lead to big changes. It’s one of the reasons I love Reiki so much. Whether you receive a Reiki session or practice it on yourself, it sets subtle shifts in motion, which, over time, can lead to new perspectives, experiences, and opportunities.

May you experience WHAT IS – today and every day.
