Inspired by my clients’ reviews and testimonials and their aha moments, I compiled this information as 50 Benefits of Reiki.

These benefits are all statements my clients have shared with me after and during their Reiki sessions. These are their own words. It’s how real people feel and what they’ve experienced.

Let me know how you like them, if you have experienced them as well. I look forward to being in touch with you!

Benefit 1: Awakens your body's natural ability to heal itself.

Benefit 2: Makes you feel grounded and centered again, right from the core.

Benefit 3: Unleashes the creativity to solve problems.

Benefit 4: Raises your vibration and shifts how you are feeling.

Benefit 5: (Re)connects you with the best version of yourself.

Benefit 6: Brings happiness and more energy into your life.

Benefit 7: Changes your perspective: Life is easier to deal with.

Benefit 8: Requires no lifestyle change. But will change your life for the better.

Benefit 9: Strengthens you from the inside.

Benefit 10: Lifts stress from the body and the mind.

Benefit 11: Brings peace and calmness.

Benefit 12: Turns on your inner light.

Benefit 13: Relaxes you, even if you normally can’t relax

Benefit 14: Makes you feel peaceful and energized. At the same time.

Benefit 15: Decreases anxiety. Helps you face the day.

Benefit 16: A wonderful get-away.
A Gentle Start to 2026

January often arrives with big intentions: change, clarity, new habits. And yet, if you’re noticing that change feels harder than expected, you’re not alone.

One of the biggest reasons transformation can feel challenging is what’s often called the monkey mind, the restless inner chatter that distracts, doubts, compares, or gently (and sometimes not so gently) pulls us away from what we truly want.

Monkey mind might sound like:

“I’ll start when things slow down.”

“I don’t have time right now.”

“Why is this so hard for me?”

“That works for others — not for me.”

This isn’t a flaw. It’s simply part of being human.

The work isn’t about forcing change. It’s about meeting ourselves with awareness, patience, and compassion. Reiki and mindfulness help calm the nervous system, quiet mental noise, and bring us back into the present moment, where real change begins.

A January Invitation

This month, instead of striving for perfection, I invite you to practice:

Gentleness with yourself

Consistent awareness rather than big resolutions

Presence over self-criticism

Small, steady moments of grounding and...Read More

In the In-Between

There are times in life when the familiar no longer fits, yet the new hasn’t taken shape. This in-between is called the liminal space, a threshold that asks us to slow down, soften, and trust.

In liminal space, clarity cannot be forced. The more we hold our breath, the more answers slip away.

It’s an invitation to:

PAUSE

WAIT

TRUST

Let go of trying to fix or fast-forward.

Feel. Listen. Allow.

When we slow down and stay present, the next steps rise in their own timing.

What Helps in the In-Between

I have found these reminders helpful:

It’s okay not to know what comes next.

Uncertainty doesn’t mean something is wrong.

I don’t have to force clarity when there’s none.

Life doesn’t need to go on hold while I wait.

In these in-between moments, I turn to simple things: my breath, the beauty of everyday objects, small joys, small wins. These keep me grounded until clarity returns.

As we move through this holiday season, and whatever liminal spaces may arise at the end of the year, may you feel supported and guided. May clarity come softly. May the new year bring ease, joy, and renewed connection.

Happy Holidays,

Andrea

About Andrea Deierlein & Thrive Reiki, LLC: Andrea's work specializes in helping people transform the pain of life challenges and daily adversity through the...Read More

Just for Today, Be Kind to Yourself

November 13 was World Kindness Day — a perfect reminder that kindness is not just something we share outwardly with others, but also a gift we can offer ourselves.

Cultivating kindness is one of the most powerful things we can do for our own well-being, and self-compassion plays an essential part in that.

Kindness and Self-Compassion: What’sthe Difference?

Kindness is the action: offering care, patience, or gentleness to ourselves or others.

Self-compassion is the attitude: how we relate to ourselves in moments of struggle, with understanding instead of judgment, care instead of criticism.

In other words, self-compassion turns kindness inward.

It’s choosing to speak to yourself as you would to a dear friend when things don’t go as planned.

“Self-compassion — treating ourselves with kindness and understanding in the face of our mistakes and failures.”

A few years ago, when I led weekly Mindful Monday sessions at the Crestwood Library, one of the participants shared this definition with me. She had read it in The New York Times, printed it, and placed it on her desk. Maybe it will inspire you too.

This simple definition makes a lot of sense to me. It’s a gentle reminder to be less judgmental toward ourselves and toward others.

A Lesson from Reiki

In the system of Reiki, one of the five precepts is:

“Just for today… be kind to yourself and others.”

When I first heard these words in July 2015, something shifted inside me.
What I’ve Learned from Building a Reiki Business

When I started Thrive Reiki in February 2016, I brought with me years of experience as a marketing and communications professional.

I had helped build organizations and departments, created Indonesia’s first pet lifestyle and wellness magazine, and developed a love for the systems and structures that make running a business smooth and sustainable.

You might think that with all that experience, starting a Reiki business would be simple — but in truth, it was one of the most humbling and transformative experiences of my life.

The Skeptics and the Eye-Rolls

When I first opened Thrive Reiki, not everyone understood what I was doing. There were polite smiles, raised eyebrows, and the occasional eye-roll. My mother-in-law even referred to my business as “that thing you do.”

That changed the day she experienced Reiki for herself. Once she felt the soothing, healing effects of Reiki, she understood — and from that moment on, she became one of my biggest supporters.

✨ Lesson: You don’t need to convince anyone. Reiki speaks for itself.

The Early Days: Doing Whatever It Takes

In my first year, I did whatever it took to keep the dream alive. I even walked dogs to pay rent for the small room where I offered Reiki sessions.

I gave free talks and free sessions just to get clients on the table. Every single experience helped me grow — not...Read More

Many people first come to Reiki during a stressful time or major life change. But here’s the beautiful truth: you don’t need a crisis to benefit.

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on practice that supports your natural ability to restore balance and calm. For some, even just one session can bring a sense of relief. But like exercise or meditation, benefits build over time.

With regular sessions, Reiki can help you:

Build resilience before stress piles up

Stay grounded and present in daily life

Reconnect with your energy, clarity, and calm, even in the everyday flow of life

As the seasons change, we’re invited to return to balance. This can be a wonderful time to return to Reiki.
Finding Calm in Shifting Times

As summer winds down, and the pace picks up, the shift into fall often means moving from slower, unscheduled days into packed calendars and renewed demands. For some, this transition can feel like whiplash… suddenly it’s back-to-back meetings, deadlines, and little time to breathe.

This is exactly when self-care matters most. Not the grand, time-consuming kind, but simple, repeatable routines that keep you grounded.

Here are a few ways to steady yourself when life shifts:

Start with Stillness: Begin your day with 3 deep breaths, before reaching for your phone or opening your inbox.

Take Micro Pauses: Between tasks, stand, stretch, or sip water. Just two minutes signals your body that it’s safe to slow down.

Reframe the Inner Critic: Swap “I’ll never catch up” for “I’m moving through this, one breath at a time.”

Evening Review: As you unwind, take a moment to remind yourself of one good thing that happened to you during the day, what brought you joy, or made you smile.

Whenever I need a quick reset, I close my eyes, take a few deep breaths, and take my mind to peaceful place in nature, like this beach in Chatham, Cape Cod.

Transitions, although they bring change, don’t have to throw you off balance. With small routines that help you anchor yourself in the present moment —and the support of Reiki, if it calls you—you can move through any shift with steadiness, clarity, and calm.

MAY YOU EXPERIENCE CLARITY, CALM & PEACE – today & every day.

About Andrea...Read More

Reset & Rediscover What’s True for You

Do you ever feel like you’re living life on autopilot? Checking off to-do lists, meeting others’ expectations, but not your own? Going through the motions simply because it’s what the schedule says?

It’s no surprise that so many people feel disconnected from themselves.

Whenever I notice overwhelm creeping in, I recognize it as a sign. A sign that I’ve gotten off-center and out of alignment. That’s when I know it’s time to stop. To pause the activity, and the overthinking, that’s adding to the tension and discomfort my body communicates to me.

Then, I find a relaxed, comfortable position and ask myself: What feels safe and supportive in this moment?

Sometimes it’s as simple as sitting quietly in a peaceful environment, reading a book, petting one of my animals, sipping a warm, non-caffeinated drink, or going for a walk.

In the busyness of everyday life, it’s so easy to lose touch… with oneself, life, what matters. To get caught in cycles of doing, rather than being.

Reiki creates a space to slow down and tune back in, to the body, heart, and inner wisdom. It won’t hand you the answers. It supports you in remembering them. In reconnecting with your own truth.

Clearing the clutter and noise, so you can hear yourself, takes time and practice. Sometimes, a lot of patience. It’s not an overnight fix.

It’s a process, a gentle peeling back of old patterns, habits, and distractions. That’s why consistent self-care practices like quiet time, yoga, massage, or Reiki sessions can make such a difference. These are the moments to remind you to “reset.”

Whether you’re riding the waves of change, feeling stuck, or simply seeking calm, may this be an invitation to rediscover what’s true for you… one breath, one moment,...Read More

Awakening Healing Within

Reiki is not something done to you—it’s something awakened within you.

Contrary to what social media is trying to sell us… Reiki isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about support. It is a practice, a tool, an energy to help us help ourselves.

A few years ago, a man in his sixties came to me while recovering from a stroke. When he first sat down in my chair, he said, “Please help me help myself. I know I can heal myself, but I need you to show me how.”

We began with three consecutive Reiki sessions to help his body relax and regulate. From there, I taught him the basic self-care practice: the nine foundational Reiki hand positions so he could practice Reiki on himself every day.

A week into his self-practice, which I asked him to do for 21 consecutive days, he emailed me: “I’m not feeling anything. I don’t know if I’m doing it right. This isn’t working. But I’m willing to keep doing it anyway.”

A month later, when he returned for another session, he walked in with a big smile.

“You won’t believe it,” he told me, “but love found me.” I’ll never forget this experience.

Photo by How Far From Home

Experiences like this reveal the essence of Reiki. That it’s a journey of the heart, of the soul. That’s it’s about connection, first with ourselves and then with others. That when we show up, with consistency and curiosity, and keep an open mind and heart, healing can find its way in surprising and beautiful ways.

This shift is not something that can be explained scientifically. With Reiki there are no promised outcomes or guaranteed results.

Ten years ago, on July 12, 2015, I took my first Reiki training—and I had no idea how profoundly it would change my life.

My first Reiki experience wasn’t exactly inspiring. Sometime in 2014 or 2015, a colleague from the German House offered to share Reiki with me during our lunch break in midtown Manhattan. She promised it would help with my chronic shoulder pain. Nothing happened. I dismissed it as nonsense, woo-woo, and magical thinking.

But that changed when I met a woman named Priya. During my first Reiki session with her, I experienced something I hadn’t felt in a long time: deep relaxation, a sense of calm, and relief. It wasn’t a miracle cure. It took several sessions. But my body finally began to unwind. As the tension eased, so did the racing thoughts in my mind.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that this session marked the beginning of an entirely new path. Priya invited me to join a meditation group, and through that experience, I learned about an upcoming Reiki 1 training.

That class became my turning point. When I heard the Reiki precepts for the first time, a switch turned in my head. It was like someone handed me permission to be kind to myself. I began to see just how much pressure I’d been putting on myself, how long I’d been moving through life pushing myself and striving for perfection.

Reiki has given me...Read More
