You are who you are

Please... Stop fighting against yourself.

Do you know this quote?

"If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams, and you will always look lovely." ~ Roald Dahl

The quote is a great reminder that what we believe and what we tell ourselves is what others see us projecting. In a way, it is the energy that we put into the world.

I meet with so many people who feel hesitant to show up as they are. With their fears and imperfections, their pain and their sorrows. They feel insecure, anxious or nervous to ask for help or support. They question themselves, their role in their home, their place of employment, their relationship with family or friends. I feel like there’s a lot of shame and guilt… about… just being human… like being human is a mistake. Like being who you are is a mistake, because it doesn’t meet other people’s opinions or expectations.

But being human is messy. It has its ups and downs. And there’s so much uncertainty.

One of my clients shared about his career change with me. When he told someone about his new chosen profession, he felt himself shrinking.

After his Reiki session, he told me about his passion for what he does and how he wants to use this energy as a vehicle to help more people. Once he reconnected with himself, his passion and joy, he felt more confident. It now shows in how he shows up in the world.

Now he shines in making human-to-human connections. Not just participating in title-against-title competitions. He is receiving positive feedback. He is keeping in touch with people he meets.

Why the change? Why the connections? Why is he finding more success with others?

Because when you are in alignment with yourself and centered within yourself, you're at peace - and it radiates outside.

Please… stop fighting yourself. Stop resisting what brings you joy. Stop making excuses that you don’t have time or blame circumstances or other people. Tap into your presence and allow yourself to be. You’re a human being, not a human doing. It’s OK to stop, pause, breathe. (Re)connect with yourself again. Reiki practice reminds me of this every day.

Yes, it is difficult. Yes, it takes practice… and time. It is not a one-time fix.

But just for today… just for this moment… allow yourself to be. And as you do so, you give others permission to be… themselves too…
