Navigating change gracefully

By Andrea Kartika Deierlein

I can’t believe we’ve entered the last 4 months of 2021. And that it’s back to school and back to work…

It’s taken me a looong time to get settled back in after my time away in Germany. Processing too many emotions. Moving into my new practice space. Shifting from being into doing - and then bringing myself back to being (while my ingrained old habits of “having to do things perfectly”, “pushing myself just a little bit more” were kicking and screaming on the inside).

It is true. Our environment affects us greatly. My accountability buddy recently shared some fascinating scientific studies about cell development by Bruce Lipton, PhD, with me. Energy really is everything. And it’s not woo-woo.

In a world where we’re so external-centric and most of our actions are subtely driven by outside factors (and sometimes forces), it is crucial to have an anchor within yourself. To be grounded and centered and grounded from within. Just think of how you feel when a storm is about to hit. Do you notice the inner tension and anxiety rise?

But look at this tree. How it is rooted deeply into the ground. With a strong trunk.

When the storms of life happen, it may bend, it may sway. Yet, it doesn’t break. I truly love this metaphor, because inner-focused practices like Reiki help us to build strength and resilience from the inside out. So that we don’t fall and break when the storms of life happen.

Until we connect again… follow your inner GPS, your inner guidance system, and let your values be your compass.
