You are not broken.

You don't need fixing.

“You cannot fix yourself because you are not broken. The more you try to fix, the more you find to fix. Only wholeness heals.” – Alan Cohen

I recently had a client who asked me to fix her. She’s a very successful entrepreneur, mother of two young children, somebody who looks like she has it all. She asked, ”What is wrong with me?” I responded “Nothing. You have just gotten out of touch with yourself.” Running on sheer adrenaline and willpower, she is caring, giving and loving to her family and to her clients, but not to herself. She's tormented and her pain is eating her alive. I, too, thought that I could function my way through life fueled by adrenaline, coffee and sugar. Back then it was the only way I knew how to get through life. It gave me a chronically inflammed esophagus and lots of visits to the dentist courtesy of my extreme teeth-griding. Thankfully that has changed.

But here is the tricky thing about change. It can be uncomfortable. It can feel threatening. Even when it is good change. Yet, on a cellular level, we change constantly. All the time. Our cells and organs renew themselves like clockwork in order to keep us healthy, well, … and functioning. It is the mind that keeps us in the loop of “what-if’s, could-have’s, should-have’s, would-have’s.” It is a record that plays over and over – and often, we don’t know where to find the off-switch.

It may sound counter-intuitive to you, but the only way to get out of this rut is to slow down. I wrote about this in my blog post Tormented by Overwhelm? Slowing Down Helps. There you’ll also find some easy tricks to try.

My recipe for you right now? Simplify.

Ask yourself “How important is it?” “Will this matter in five months or even five years from now?”

And then just listen to your gut. When you are in tune with yourself, clarity and answers can find their way. When you are off-tune, you may be confused, scared and even get angry. Our feelings are great indicators whether we are in tune with ourselves, or not. If you have unlearned this, or stopped listening to your body, maybe it’s time for a Reiki session again. I won’t be able to fix you or your problems, but I can show you how Reiki helps us become and be more aligned with ourselves and our lives.

“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are.”
- Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D.

Sending you Reiki blessings,
